Our friends at The Pokémon Company and Game Freak kept up on their promise of an all-new Pokémon main title game for the Nintendo Switch with an announcement of Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield.
Fresh off the wildly successful Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee Pokémon games for the Nintendo Switch, Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield will be exclusive to the Nintendo Switch system.
Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield will take place in a new area called the Galar region where players can work on their quest to becoming a Pokémon champion. The three starter pokémon were announced: Grookey (grass-type), Scorbunny (fire-type), and Sobble (water-type). I'm sure we'll hear more about the other new pokémon trainers will encounter in Galar, but until then see below for screenshots from The Pokémon Company.
Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield are expected to launch late 2019.
